WHEN YOU FAIL When I heard the phone and I saw your name, I felt it in my bones and I knew without a word; without a single breath of air; I knew you weren't really there and nothing good would come of this. So I left the house with my headphones on, not knowing where the words were going take me or which melody was going to break me but it's that defeat that kills us to live again. I'm hoping I can be there when you fail. I want to see the look in your eyes when you realize it's over and that everything you've worked for is gone. That don't make much of me, it's true. We are both going to burn on this together and together we are going down. So I take that pain and I close my eyes and I bury it deep inside where I can't find it till there is nothing left to hide and I stare down every demon that I have just to see who blinks first. I wish I could say that I am better than this. But I can not say, so I will dig in with both heels and I will pull blades from my back and I will raise them to the sky in proud defiance of your life. I'm hoping I can be there when you fail. I want to see the look in your eyes when you realize it's over and that everything you've worked for is gone. That don't make much of me, it's true. We are both going to burn on this together and together we are going down. I'm hoping I can be there when you fail. I want to see the look in your eyes when you realize it's over and that everything you've worked for is gone. That don't make much of me, it's true. We are both going to burn on this together and together we are going down.

"She wakes up alone in a hospital room, surprisingly silent for where it is. She curses the breath that brings her awake, but savours the light that signals the day. The window outside is her only light and in the dark she can't see very far. So she lingers a moment before arising; closes her eyes and tries to go back to sleep. She lets her mind go wandering to where she'd rather be. So many places she will never see. She dreams she's at the corner of Kind Edward and Cambie and she'll catch a train to the airport and buy a one-way ticket anywhere. Spend the next few hours thinking what i'd be like never landing. How long would it take before someone missed her or even noticed she was gone and how long would it take before she started resenting the metal and plastic that hold her in place. Would it feel so familiar to what she is leaving; she has never really known anything else. She started so far behind. She dreams she is walking on a shore, and there's a storm on the horizon. An old friend comes up to great her, looks in her eyes. Then they both walk hand in hand through the tide and into the ocean and they are swept up by the current and the storm will envelope them, water will surround them and then drag them to the bottom of the sea. She is too strong to die but too weak to leave. The light from the window is starting to fade, and with it comes the end of her day. So she lingers a moment before proceeding to unplug the machine that keeps her alive. If she makes it to morning, it'll be her own strength. She won't have to worry, she knows that the storm will still be out there waiting for her."

Three Shots 04:07
THREE SHOTS Three shots are for my friends who are no longer around, because their jobs keep them from home and it's their families who suffer. This one is for the lovers that I have lost and I've let go; I never know just what I am doing and I am sorry if I dragged you down. One 650ml bottle of the strongest stout you've got for the ones who never gave up on me and never shared my doubts. One more from the highest shelf you can pout right on the ground. I don't remember asking you to leave. I can not think without what I would be. I wish you would have said something to someone. The saddest part of all is that you probably did, and there is just not an answer. I find it hard to believe which means it's probably true. If someone like you could not find the help they need then how is anybody else supposed to make it through? I don't remember asking you to leave. I can not think without what I would be. You must have known that you were loved to your last breath which I wish you would used to say something to someone. Now that you are gone I can't remember where it started from, it seems that you were always just there. You don't have to know someone to miss them when they are gone; it just means they meant something to you.
